FAQs

Where do your referrals come from?
Children are referred to us from multiple State of South Carolina child-care agencies and from families seeking private placement for their child.

How do I get a child admitted?
If you are seeking a private placement, please click here for a downloadable application form. Simply provide the information requested and hand-deliver or fax the form to us (we recommend hand-delivery or faxing the form to help protect the confidentiality of client information).

How is the Boys Home of the South funded?
The Boys Home of the South is a Medicaid-authorized provider of child care services. Most of our funding comes from Medicaid sources combined with state funding. We also rely heavily on donations from many caring individuals.

Are boys in care offered opportunities for spiritual guidance, growth, and development?
Absolutely. The Boys Home of the South encourages each child to be actively involved in his spiritual growth and development from whatever spiritual tradition he may come.

Is the Boys Home of the South a "locked-down" facility?
No. The Boys Home of the South operates on a former farm in rural Greenville County, South Carolina approximately 30 miles from the city of Greenville. While access to our campus by the public is restricted by policy, no child is placed in lock down.

Where do the boys go to school?
Most of our boys attend nearby Woodmont Middle and High Schools. For those needing extra attention, the Boys Home of the South operates its own charter school on campus. Our charter school has the distinction of being the smallest charter school in the country! This means lots of individual attention.

How long do boys stay with you?
Our programs are designed to require a minimum of a six-month stay. Clients may stay longer, as needed, to complete their treatment goals.
